Day 17 Yang Sheng
Take a look at the organ clock below and check in with yourself — what does it look like for you during this time? What activities are you doing?
In Five Element Theory, the Pericardium is associated with the Fire element and serves as the emotional protector — shielding the Heart from shock, hurt, and emotional disturbances such as personal attacks, breakups, divorce, betrayal, or abuse. A healthy Pericardium, also known as the “Heart Protector,” helps us sense who is loving and supportive and who may pose harm or danger. It allows the Heart to express joy. When the Pericardium is out of balance, love and joy disappear, sadness and fear rise, spiritual connection weakens, and we become vulnerable, easily hurt, and closed to love while open to harm.
The therapeutic approach focuses on nourishing the Pericardium meridian in Summer or during 7–9pm, or whenever these imbalances arise.
Pericardium energy peaks at 7pm - 9pm, which is when the pericardium meridian is on duty. This is the time for:
△ restorative
△ meditation
△ intimacy
△ light stretching
How to nourish your pericardium Qi: The Heart Protector acts as a guardian between our sensitive inner world and external influences. Nourish it by maintaining an open heart that allows connection when appropriate and establishing boundaries when needed. This balance supports emotional safety, joy, and healthy relational flow.
There is a mind in the heart that is always feeling into all the emotions, as the heart is the emperor of all emotions. It is more vulnerable for the heart fire to rise so it is important to calm the heat and fire in the heart to calm the emotions.
