Day 18 Yang Sheng
Take a look at the organ clock below and check in with yourself — what does it look like for you during this time? What activities are you doing?
In Five Element Theory, the Triple Burner is associated with the Fire element and paired with the Pericardium. Together, they ensure the smooth flow of Qi throughout all meridians. When the upper burner is out of balance, defenses weaken, leading to colds, sneezing, runny nose, fever, sore throat, or body aches. When the middle burner is imbalanced, digestive issues such as bloating, nausea, or heartburn may arise. When the lower burner is imbalanced, problems with water metabolism and urination can occur, such as leg edema, burning urination, loss of bladder control, or frequent urination.
The therapeutic approach focuses on harmonising Triple Burner Qi in Summer or during 9–11pm, or whenever these imbalances appear.
Triple burner energy peaks at 9pm - 11pm, which is when the triple burner meridian is on duty. This is the time for:
△ calm the nervous system
△ hot bath/herbal tea
△ quiet the mind
△ sleep preparation
How to nourish your triple burner Qi: When your system is out of whack, your energy is not harmonised. One of the most important — and often understated — practices is getting a good night’s sleep and following your body clock so all organs can replenish. Prepare for sleep so you don’t feel wired before bedtime. Avoid checking emails, social media, or watching TV. Treat it like a spa ritual: create an environment that relaxes you. Prepare at least 30 minutes before bed. Put on a diffuser with your favourite essential oils (lavender and eucalyptus are beautiful choices), have a foot bath with herbs or a few drops of peppermint oil, listen to soothing music, and feel free to get creative in creating your own sanctuary for sleep.
This Qigong practice help to regulate all the organs and energy in the body by balancing the triple warmer (known as triple burner/triple heater). According to TCM, it is one of the 12 meridians that consist of three burners. The upper burner involve the lung and heart, middle burner involve stomach and spleen and lower burner involve all other organs including liver, gallbladder, kidney, bladder, small and large intestines. The triple warmer govern circulation of Qi, blood and body fluids which help to regulate stress and immune response as well as regulate the endocrine and emotions.
