Day 19 Yang Sheng
Take a look at the organ clock below and check in with yourself — what does it look like for you during this time? What activities are you doing?
In Five Element Theory, the Gallbladder is associated with the Wood element, which governs clear judgment, decision‑making, and growth. As the yang organ of Wood, Gallbladder imbalance may show up as an inability to digest fats, pain under the right ribcage or right shoulder blade, dark yellow urine, or gallstones.
The therapeutic approach focuses on nourishing Gallbladder yang energy — which keeps you active during the day but must be stored at night. The body needs deep rest for cellular repair so you can wake feeling energised.
Gallbladder energy peaks at 11pm - 1am, which is when the gallbladder meridian is on duty. This is the time for:
△ clear the mind
△ wind down your nervous system
△ yoga nidra (if have trouble sleeping)
△ deep sleep
How to nourish your gallbladder Qi: Prioritise sleep during this window. Staying awake depletes Gallbladder energy, which over time can lead to poor self‑esteem, poor judgment, and difficulty making clear decisions.
As the saying goes "sitting is the new smoking", we often forget how focus we can get when we sit at work and by the time you notice, it may have already been a few hours or even the whole day! It is important to move every hour to keep your circulation and energy flowing for a long lasting healthy life. This short energy practice focus on clearing stagnant energy in the gallbladder channel on the sides of the body while resetting your nervous system.
