Clear headache

Day 20 Yang Sheng

Take a look at the organ clock below and check in with yourself — what does it look like for you during this time? What activities are you doing?

In Five Element Theory, the Liver nourishes and stores blood and ensures the smooth flow of Qi throughout the body. It is associated with the Wood element and stores the emotions of anger, frustration, rage, and resentment. Liver imbalance may show up as headaches, dizziness, breast tenderness, irregular menstruation, or eye conditions.

The therapeutic approach focuses on harmonising and nourishing the Liver meridian in Spring or during 1–3am, or whenever these imbalances arise.

Liver energy peaks at 1am - 3am, which is when the liver meridian is on duty. This is the time for:
△ deep sleep
△ rest and recovery
△ emotional release
△ sacred space for repair

How to nourish your liver Qi: The body should be asleep during this window, as the Liver stores blood for menstruation. Lack of sleep at this time can quickly create deficiency, especially for those with a female body due to the importance of blood in menstruation (including during menopause). Waking between 1–3am may indicate repressed anger or long‑standing resentment. Managing stress, regulating your sleep rhythm, and balancing your emotions all help promote healthy Liver Qi.

This is a seated Qigong practice focus on keeping the liver Qi in harmony by using Qi facial massage, acupressure and Qigong to help remove stagnations that causes tension in the head and neck.
