Metabolise energy

Day 12 Yang Sheng

Take a look at the organ clock below and check in with yourself — what does it look like for you during this time? What activities are you doing?

In Five Element Theory, the Urinary Bladder is associated with the Water element, which governs fluid, hydration, and the ability to flow. As the yang organ of Water, the Bladder is prone to imbalance such as frequent or difficult urination, burning sensations, yeast infections, urinary stones, or incontinence.

The therapeutic approach focuses on hydrating and nourishing the Bladder meridian in Winter or during the early‑morning Bladder clock of 3–5am, or whenever these imbalances arise.

Urinary bladder energy peaks at 3pm - 5pm, which is when the urinary bladder meridian is on duty. This is the time for:
△ mental focus/study
△ stretch/walk
△ hydration
△ detoxification

How to nourish your urinary bladder Qi: Stay well‑hydrated, as it’s common to feel an energy dip during Bladder time. The Bladder is nourished by salty flavours, so a warm, mineral‑rich broth can be supportive. Because the Bladder channel runs along the back of the body, myofascial release helps ease tension in the back channel and promotes the circulation of Qi. Emotionally, Bladder imbalance can show up as irritation or timidity, so tending to your emotional body helps energy move freely. Myofascial Release also supports the release of emotional tension stored in the tissues.

We have a set amount of energy in our reserve and some energy are lost when waste are being discreted. This Qigong practice draw energy through the bladder meridian to build energy for the kidneys, the reservoir of Qi.
