Inspired by the pristine beauty of Cataract Gorge in Launceston, Tasmania, Shibashi draws its name from the Chinese words shiba (eighteen) and shi (form), meaning “eighteen forms.” This classic Qigong practice, created by Nin Ho Shun, blends elements of Qigong and Taichi to cultivate and shape life‑force energy.
Shibashi is traditionally associated with supporting back health, easing respiratory conditions, and helping regulate blood pressure. It is widely practiced to enhance vitality, improve circulation of blood and Qi, and calm and steady the mind.
Many of the eighteen forms echo the natural world, with movements named after and inspired by the qualities of nature itself. This connection invites practitioners to move with greater harmony, presence, and awareness.
