Holotropic breathwork, translated as 'moving towards wholeness', is a powerful and transformative breathwork that helps with emotional healing and allow us to get to the deeper things that may be held in the subconscious. Using evocative music, this guided breathwork practice consist of a two-part inhale and one-part exhale through the mouth. You may experience vibrations in your hands, lightheadedness, tingling, or tetany (where your hands temporarily spasm into a claw-like position) or a release of cry and some even fall asleep. Whatever the experience may be for you, be gentle with yourself and feel free to relax the breathing to a natural breath if something feels too intense that you're not ready for. This is a practice that you can return to everyday, a few times a week or whenever you need as each time will give you a different experience of what you are ready to meet. Please note, this practice is contraindicated if you have high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, pregnancy, epilepsy, glaucoma. Music credit: Emmit Feen and Luovico Einaudi.
